The Small-Ship Experience
CHOOSE YOUR CRUISE STYLE! Our Cruise Collection includes many types of cruises and levels of service. Unique Expeditions are often one-time-only trips, designed to bring you to the world’s most far-flung destinations, with exciting shore excursions and fantastic naturalists chosen for their gifts for sharing their expertise. Luxury Cruises offer a five-star experience with spacious cabin suites, butler service, fine cuisine prepared by professional chefs, and beautiful lounging areas. Alcoholic beverages and gratuities are included. Casual Cruises offer a casual style; all excursions are elective (not included in the trip price), for a more economical option. You can participate in as many as you wish! Polar Cruises explore the rugged wilds of the polar regions in comfortable ice-strengthened expedition ships with a crew of trained naturalists. River Cruises offer wonderful voyages on some of Europe’s storied rivers, as well as Asia’s Mekong River. Journeys by Rail are aboard a luxury train, but the concept is the same. Unpack just once and experience a fantastic adventure aboard the renowned Golden Eagle trains.
When it comes to exploring by boat, smaller truly is better. Smaller boats can get into ports and places that larger ships can’t, allowing you to savor uncrowded anchorages in remote locations. You’ll enjoy wonderful interactions with fellow passengers, ship officers, staff, and the guides and
lecturers who may accompany you on shore excursions and offer fascinating presentations. Throughout the journey you spend less time queuing up on deck, as guests on large ships must do, and more time off the boat, enjoying the places you came so far to see! ACTIVE, ENLIGHTENING, AND FUN! Each cruise program varies, but most offer wonderfully active days. Zodiacs zip you to
shore for exciting visits to nearby villages and markets, and you’ll enjoy guided walks on history-filled streets, one-on-one encounters with the locals, or excursions to wildlife-rich areas of natural beauty. Optional sea kayaking and snorkeling opportunities are offered on some voyages for memorable encounters with the wonders of underwater realms.

TRAVEL IN COMFORT Unpack just once and settle into your cabin! The small ships in this program range quite a bit in style, cabin size, and amenities, but all offer comfortable twin or double cabins with en suite facilities, public spaces where you can gather with newfound friends, plus a bar, library, and a dining room serving delightful cuisine, with a local touch whenever possible. Many of the cruises include wine and beer with lunch and dinner on board.

Arctic Wildlife Safari ABOARD THE SEA SPIRIT
DAYS 1-2 LONGYEARBYEN TO ISFJORDEN After an overnight in Longyearbyen, embark and sail into a true wilderness where nature rules. DAYS 3-10 WEST SPITSBERGEN Experience excellent wildlife viewing as you explore Svalbard’s spectacular fjords, coasts, and islands. To complete the Arctic experience you’ll explore places rich with history—the remnants of whaling camps, trappers’ cabins, staging areas for early attempts to discover the North Pole, and even an abandoned polar research station. Disembark in Longyearbyen on Day 10 and depart. The island of Spitsbergen is home to deep fjords flanked by jagged snowy mountains, immense tidewater glaciers, and some of the Arctic’s best wildlife viewing opportunities—walrus, Arctic fox, reindeer, and a variety of whales and seals. On this expedition, you’ll venture to the jumbled edge of the north polar ice cap in search of them stalking their prey in their preferred habitat: the pack ice. Northwest Passage: In the Footsteps of Franklin ABOARD THE OCEAN ADVENTURER For centuries, fortune-seekers risked their lives to find the Northwest Passage, the fabled sea route running between Europe and Asia. On this active adventure, cruise through the heart of the Northwest Passage and experience firsthand the islands, waterways, and wilds that still yield a gratifying sense of achievement for all who make the voyage. One of the highlights is Beechey Island, made famous by explorers such as Roald Amundsen and Sir John Franklin, who disappeared on his last expedition here in 1845. Searchers from Parks Canada found the wreck of one of his ships, the Erebus , in 2014; the Terror was found two years later.
